Istanbul journal: Istanbul Constantinopal

a entry by Destiny2007

from a trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

Got to stay in a hotel! It's cool. We had another guide. The first night we ate at a great restaurant with chandeliers, etc. It didn't feel that tough - camping after all. I saw traditional dances similar to Greek and Russian. There was knife throwing and belly dancing. It was so good!! W ate great food. It was a better set up than the Greek dinner and dancing we saw. I was somewhat disappointed because the Greek one experience has weak food and old overweight dancers performing for our tour. When I had seen such wonderful dancers back in Trikala I was annoyed that they didnt represent our ...

Istanbul journal: Iran can wait

a entry by Neil & Amanda

from a trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

We have returned to Istanbul. In a recent discussion with Yvonne Gulugoph, our Satellite Navigator, angrily she shouted: Istanbul? I thought we were going to be driving through Iran next? Why have you gone backwards?. Yvonne, I explained, its not that simple. There are legalities and visas that need to be organized to get to Iran. All you think about is the direction! So its my fault! she snapped. Do you think I got you lost? No Yvonne, let me explain

The Black Sea coast, although beautiful, was becoming exceedingly monotonous. This was due to two facts that were weighing ...

Istanbul journal: ACROSS TURKEY - By Bus

"The journey immediately began badly, with the driver reversing the van into the path of a passing truck"

a entry by Tony G

from a trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

So there we were, in ancient Sultanahmet, with its unfamiliar smells

and sounds, and that exotic skyline of domes and minarets silhouetted against the evening sky. Immediately in front of us was the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia and,

right across the road from where the bus had stopped, the famed travellers

meeting place, the Pudding Shop on Divan Yolu. At last we felt like we were really in the East. But, after three days and nights on the (not

so Magic) bus from Amsterdam

I was exhausted and seriously cranky. Even so, it felt exciting to be in Turkey.

We avoided the rush to the ...

Turkey journal: Roads, people and food - Turkey

a review of Overland Experiences, a thing to do in Turkey.

Not sure where it would be appropriate to put this review but these are the basics for travelling overland in Turkey.

Visa Entry - We crossed from Greece and the procedure was relatively simple. The cost of the visa is 10euros per person. The Carnet de Passage was not apparently required. You will need your vehicle greencard and insurance. We did not have insurance so we had to purchase it at the border. This cost 70 euros for three months and only covered third party.

Diesel- Not that cheap. Over the two months we visited Turkey the cost ranged between 2,90YTL - 2,50YTL which is ...

Kusadasi property

Kusadasi property is the best kind of property that you can obtain from the country of Turkey, and because of this, prime locations and prime properties in Kusadasi have developed practically overnight, owing to the fact that Turkey is one of the few countries in the world today that is truly experiencing economic booms and wide and variegated distribution of modernization in all aspects and regions of the country. Property in Kusadasi is popular among investors in real estate because the country Turkey is always ready to lend a very accommodating lending hand to those who wish to be a part of the very dynamic and progressive country that is Turkey. The dynamism of Turkey perhaps owes itself to the very liberal and progressive economic and trade policies that have been characteristic of the country since the late eighties. The first boom in Turkey real estate came about perhaps also since the late eighties with the passing of policies in local legislature that harmonized the current economic activities of the country with the economic and trade trends on the international or global level.

Turkey also offers those who wish to reside in Turkey something to smile about continually since Turkey is very kind to foreigners who actually want to live for a period of time in the country of Turkey in Kusadasi. If a foreign individual wishes to have a mortgage loan in the country of Turkey, then all one has to do is fulfill the basic requirements for the mortgage just like in any other country. There would be little to hinder a foreigner from enjoying a place like Kusadasi since any prime property there, whether commercial or residential in categorization would be offered equally to those who are interested. Mortgage loans would be processed of course based on the kind of income that one has, and what kind of currency one wishes to pay off the mortgage loans once they have been approved.

For the businesses who wish to finally go overseas and find a comfortable nesting place in the country of Turkey, there are more and more reasons to smile. The economic and trade policies in this particular country in the world is one of the most relaxed and liberal, and thus, the dynamism that we are seeing now is a direct result of deregulation and of course, one of the best things about life, privatization, which means there are more chances for businesses to immediately pick up and make lots and lots of profit at a relatively short period of time. All these are provided by the government and the whole country of Turkey so as to attract a lot of investors and to attract a lot of people who are very interested in investing in Kusadasi property so that in the end, every one is happy, every one is progressive, and even the country benefits from the mutual exchanges in currency and commodity, within the country and even outside the country of Turkey. This is the best.

Kas journal: The Captain of our Gulet has a Mullet

a entry by Four Explore

from a trip to Kas, Antalya.

By Christina

For those of you who dont know, a mullet is a groovy hairstyle (short on top, long at the back) that enjoys great popularity the world over. Apparently, this popularity extends to Turkey, because the captain of our gulet had a mullet. And, for those of you who dont know, a gulet is a wooden yacht used for cruising the western Mediterranean (west to east, in our case) in Turkey on a blue voyage. But, I will get to our boat trip in a moment.

We awoke in our lovely Fethiye hotel primed and pumped for breakfast since the prior evenings meal had left us wanting. ...
